November 2022 - Coping with Caregiver Depression
Are you a caregiver that is carrying the heavy weight of depression? Depression is an illness not a reflection of your strength as a person. This group will help you understand the signs of depression and how to get help.
December 2022 – Managing the Holidays
The holiday season is a time of year that you can experience extra demands and expectations. In this group we will discuss how you can enjoy the simple pleasures that can give you comfort.
January 2023 - Managing Anger
The ability to recognize and manage feelings of anger is important for all human beings but especially important for caregivers who struggle to balance caring for their own needs while also caring for another. This group helps participants identify the signs of anger, the way anger is expressed, and provides tools that will assist in communicating feelings in a constructive manner.
February 2023 – Burnout? OK, Now What?
Are you a caregiver that feels tired of caring? This presentation will help you explore how you got to this point of burnout. It will also offer some tips on how to manage your commitments and still find time to take care of you.
March 2023 - Improve Quality of Life with Chronic Illness
Chronic illness can wear at the threads that hold a quality life together. Palliative care can provide additional support, services encompassing the physical, emotional, and symptom management needs of the Veteran and help to support their caregivers with the process. This group explores how palliative care treatment may help.
April 2023 - Advanced Care Planning
Listeners will learn about the kinds of advanced directives and the reasons for each. The leaders will talk about legal forms and what to think about when making decisions. Listeners will learn how to talk to doctors and family about their treatment wishes.
May 2023 - Conflict Resolution
Conflict can be destructive if not managed well. This group will help you understand the tools you need to build a bridge of understanding. Join us to learn how to turn your conflicts into a positive experience.
June 2023 - Restoring Connections at Home
Home can be a refuge from the challenges in daily life. This space can provide the glue to hold your family together. This presentation will discuss how to make your home a place of comfort. We will also identify tools to help you care for yourself and the people in your life.
July 2023 – Tending Loves Flame: Keeping the Love Alive
Stress can deplete the strength of your love relationship. Couples can forget to spend the time needed to keep the spark of love alive. This group explores the skills to help you maintain the closeness in your relationship.
August 2023 – Stepping Back: Don’t Take it Personally
The focus of this group will be to talk about what personalizing is. We will talk about why this is common among caregivers and the negative impacts are of taking things personally. Finally, we will talk about what you can do to stop these harmful thoughts to improve your mood and actions.
September 2023 – Empowering Caregivers Health
Caregivers can neglect their own health needs when they focus on caring for another. This group will empower caregivers to turn their attention on themselves. You will learn skills that support your whole health and wellbeing.
